How
does bibliomancy work? |
 |
| |
There
are several theories but none of them stand up to true scrutiny.
Just for the record, I neither support nor dismiss any of these
theories. |
|

|
|
| |
One
theory regards the power of the mind. The human mind is vast
but we only use a small part of it. Indeed, we only use about
a third of our brain capacity. The theory is that the mind already
has the answers but you cannot get at them - not directly, anyway.
So, your mind directs you to the right book, to the right page
and to the right paragraph thence you read on and receive the
wisdom. |

Next
comes the thoery that it's all just a coincidence. The guidance
you got from the book just happened to fit your question. So,
it was coincidental that you chose the right book ... and the
right page ... and the right paragraph ... and asked the right
question ... A very big coincidence but there you have it. |

|
| |
The
fatalist theory promotes the fact that your life is already
pre-ordained. All the things that have happened to you and are
going to happen to you are already mapped out and you are just
following the map. So, when you use bibliomancy, fate (whatever
that may be) simply points you in the right direction so that
you can get on with following your pre-ordained destiny. |

|
| |
All
are theories and all are unprovable. However, it does not matter.
If bibliomancy works for you then who really cares as to how
it works. It just does. Well, it appears to work, anyway. |
