Why the need for a chaperone?

Both Hydrotherm and aromatherapy massage must have a chaperone present in the room or within earshot (e.g. next room.) There is a compelling reason for this. There can be absolutley no question of any inappropriate behaviour whatsoever from either party and the presence of a chaperone ensures this.

Please do not book or expect to have an Hydrotherm or aromatherapy massage without the presence of the chaperone. If I arrive at your home to perform the treatment and the chaperone is not present then I will not perform the treatment. Worse still, you will still be charged for the visit because it will be viewed as a cancellation.

While the imposition of this rule may appear Draconian, it is there to protect us both.

What happens at a Hydrotherm massage session?
Please note that the treatment requires the use of a treatment couch. You will need a large space to accomodate the couch. The treatment cannot be conducted in a confined space. Also, I will need access to hot water in order to fill the cushions. Finally, you will need a chaperone (e.g. your partner, friend, etc.) present in the room or within earshot of the room.

First, I telephone you and ask you a number of questions regarding your medical history and lifestyle. This is important because certain medical conditions preclude you from having a Hydrotherm treatment (just as they would in a conventional massage.) Of course, the information is kept strictly confidential. Once we have confirmed that you are able to have the treatment, we agree a place (usually, your home), date and time for the treatment.

I arrive at your home (or other appointed place) and set up my equipment. For your part, you will need to provide a warm, quiet space free from interruptions. So, unplug the 'phone, pack the children off to your in-laws, etc. Finally, you sign the consent form, I accept payment and the treatment begins.

The treatment takes the following course:
  > I complete the medical / lifestyle questionnaire assessing your suitability for Hydrotherm massage
  > I set up the couch and fill the cushions with warm/hot water to the desired temperature
  > You select one or two essential oils which will be used in the Hydrotherm massage
  > Please note that all clothes need to be removed prior to the Hydrotherm massage. Of course, I provide towels to maintain your dignity!!
  > I start some soothing music playing and you lay down on the couch and relax
  > I perform the Hydrotherm massage
  > After the treatment, there is time for you to discuss your healing experience or ask questions if you wish
  > Finally, we discuss any further treatments, make an appointment (where appropriate), I pack up and leave you in a better frame of mind ...
