Reiki
(pronounce 'ray-key') was a method of healing dating back to
around 2500 years. However, it was forgotten for a very long
period. In the nineteenth century a Dr. Makao Usui (pronounce
'ooo-so-ay') rediscovered it. The discovery is quite a story
but in a nutshell, Dr Usui was challenged by his students to
prove that Jesus Christ actually performed healing. So, he studied
Christianity in the United States then returned to Japan to
study Buddism. It was during his studies of Buddism with a Budist
monk when he stumbled across the acient reiki symbols. Having
found the sumbols, he didn't know how to use them so he spent
a number of days on the top of a mountain meditating on the
rekei sumbols. On the 21st day, he received enlightenment regarding
the symbols (their meaning and how to use them) and set off
down the mountain. There was proof of the new healing powers
when he healed several people immediately after coming down
the mount (including himself when he stubbed is toe on a rock.)
He went on to perform reiki healing and spread the word for
a number of years after. |

About
Reiki |
|
| |
Reike
translates as Universal Life Force. When George Lucas wrote
of the 'Force' in the Star Wars saga, he wasn't far off the
mark. The reiki energy
surrounds us all and we are all able to receive and direct the
energy. The theory is that when we are ill, the energy within
us is out of balance. The reiki energy is used to correct that
balance and make us well again. We are all seeking balance.
When everything is in harmony, we feel balanced. However, when
the harmony is disrupted, we lose the balance. The reiki energy
helps restore the balance. |
